How long have you been working with children?

Between internships in college, student teaching, substitute teaching, and teaching Pre-Kindergarten, I have been working with children for seven awesome years!

Why do you work with children?

There’s a moment when a child first completely understands something, and their eyes light up, then ah-ha! Those “ah-ha” moments will always keep pushing me to teach new and exciting concepts.

What is your strength in the classroom?

My classroom is a balance between creativity and structure. Each child has the ability to carve out tasks of their own choosing to foster decision making and independence skills. However, I set high individualized expectations so that each child has an attainable goal that we can work towards together.

What is your favorite activity/topic to share with children?

I love, love, love teaching about science and doing all kinds of science experiments!!! One of my other favorite activities is building sandcastles with the kids in the sandbox where their imaginations run wild!

    What are your hobbies/interests?

I like to think of myself as a Jane of all trades. I love to curl up with a good book. . . But being kind a Sci-fi geek, my book choices tend to be all over the place. During the summer on the evenings and weekends, I can ususally be found on the golf course or trying to squeeze in a hot yoga class!

    What is your favorite color?

I love all colors. I am partial to greens and pinks, but anything bright and happy is always fun to see.

What is your favorite beverage from Starbucks/Tully’s?

I’m a Starbucks girl all the way! A Mocha, Caramel Macchiato, or Pike’s Drip are all simply splendid in my book!
